Baby Jydan - 9 Months

Nine Months:
 35-39 weeks:
This month has quite possibly been the most funniest month! I'm just loving all the amazing things he is learning at the moment and there seems to be a new thing everyday. These babies brains are like sponges! I feel so incredibly proud of my little man. Not because of the amount of things he is learning but just because he is such a beautify scrumptious little man!
He is such a happy little man. He is always giggling and smiling. Especially when we play peak-a-boo! He is also super ticklish so if you can't get a giggle by doing something funny, you can just tickle him! I feel like a comedian around him though, he sure makes me super happy! I'm so happy to be his mum.

Teething:
Jydan shot up three teeth this month! Yey! Finally we have teeth! :D.
Jydan did really well with his teething actually. I am pretty surprised. He is just more exhausted and sleeps more often. Oh and he has this disgusting symptom of smelly wee. He gets it just about he is about to cut a tooth. It's so bad that we have to use disposables instead of cloth. It happened every time he cut a tooth.

Swimming:
Jydan is doing really well with his swimming. His strength is probably paddle and kicking and getting in the pool safely. I am really surprised at how quickly Jydan is picking things up. He has made a friend too, Felix. Felix' mum & I have coffee with our little boys beforehand and Jydan is getting really excited when he sees Felix. He squeals and jumps around. So precious!

Jydan's Milestones:

Jydan is slithering forward now, more like dragging himself on his belly to get a toy. He started on the day he turned 9 months. It's a big caterpillar crawl. He is very fast in going around in circles and backwards, But he isn't actually crawling.  He takes a few steps when he stands up if he's holding onto my hands so I think he is more interested in walking then crawling!
He is also really intellectual as well, he says 11 words now!!! He understands about twenty too. It astounds me. Especially when he says things like 'Book mum' when he is telling me he has a book. Yes, he is only nine months!
He has learnt to clap the last week too. It's so uncoordinated and precious.. he completely misses his hands, haha!

Reflux:
Jydan is totally off his reflux medicine!!! We completely weaned himself of his medicine. It took awhile and he still spews every now and then. Probably a couple of times - a few times a week. I'm SOO glad that it's one less medicine he is on. Thank goodness.
We were advised to keep him on until he was one, but we made the decision as parents to slowly wean him. It took about two months and we would cut out a little each day to see how he went. A couple of times we had to stop cutting it back until his system got use to it, and then cry again. Until official he was off! Best news for this month :).

Eczema:
Jydan's eczema is still lingering, we have good days and bad says and he has patches on his skin that are permanently there that we can't get rid off! But it is getting better. Hopefully he will grow out of it soon.

Routine:
Jydan is sleeping through the whole night now! I'm so grateful. I know when I go to bed I'm going to get a full nights sleep. It's an amazing thing ;). However, he wakes up earlier! Like around 6am! Oh well, I just have to go to bed a little earlier! Jydan is having 4 milk feeds in a 24 hour period, breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner. His meals are about 6 tablespoons and his afternoon tea is about a handful of finger foods.. toast, a mandarin, cubes of cheese or watermelon.. something along those lines.
Jydan is only having two naps now. Generally it's at 9-11 and 2-4 and then bed at 7pm :).

Sunday Craft Days:

We are having so much fun with our craft days and have done so many fun things.. Pasta necklaces, painting, drawling, handprints. My favourite was the finger painting with the painters tape to spell out his name. I'll write up a blog for crafts under one soon :).  This month I have shaving cream, vegetable paint, paint stamps and hand cast planned! It's going to be super fun :).

Health Clinic Appointment:
Jydan did REALLY well with his weight gain this month, we are soo proud. He is finally gaining brilliantly. And meeting all his milestones. He is really forward with his speech. :).. speaking about 11 words but around 5 all the time and has said a few two word sentences.

Paediatrician Appointment:
We missed our paeds app this month.

Weight/Height/Looks:
Jydan's hair is growing beautifully now, after loosing all his hair at about two months old he only has a little less then what he was born with. It's a beautiful orange colour/red colour. It's to die for! I'm biased though, it's my hair colour too ;)
Jydan is now 7.8 kilos, which is fantastic because our goal for his slow weight gain was that he would be 8 kilos by the time he is 12 months. And he is going to hit that probably by the time he is 10 months! I'm SO pleased. He is sitting at the 10th percentile for his weight now, so he's climbing back up, yeye! So proud. His height is on just average, so that's great! His poor teeny head isn't even on the scale yet, but I'm sure it will get there soon.
This month Jydan put on the most weight and grew the longest he has in probably 6 months! He definitely had a growth spurt and I think the Vit D is really helping :)

Nappies:
One of Jydan's terrible teething signs is smelly wee.. it's really really gross. I can smell it more in cloth so on days where he's about to cut we use sposies ;) haha! Especially at night. But he seems to be getting over that now, so we have gone back to cloth today. I don't think it will be long 'till we will be back in sposies again because I'm sure the 4th tooth is about to sprout at any moment!

Jydan's Likes/Dislikes:
Jydans favourite toys at the moment is puzzles. He loves puzzles. He obviously can't do them yet but he likes to try. I sit down and do them with him sometimes and other times it's probably the only thing he will independently play with. He also absolutely loves his comfort teddy, Fred! He loves him so much it's soo dirty! haha! He can't sleep without it.
Jydan absolutely loves his friends. He gets soo excited. Like as if I keep him away from his friends for months, but he actually has the best social life. Probably why he gets so excited? He just loves little people. He can't contain himself. It's amazing to see :).
We absolutely hate nappy change at the moment.. both of us. He hates sitting on his back still, he just wants to roll away and I really hate holding him down. He just wants to go. I hate fighting with him.

Feeding:

9 months on and we're still breastfeeding! I'm so grateful! We are half way through to our 18 month goal,  we are so amazingly blessed! I have just started introducing morning tea, so Jydan is now having 4-5 meals a day depending on his naps :) and 4 breastfeeds.

Baby Jydan - 7 Months

Seven Months:

30 weeks:
It's been such a big month this month, full of amazing milestones, I'm beside myself. There seems to be such a big difference between six months and seven months. Not with growth, because the little man isn't growing as well as  he should but with his milestones.
A few things that have gone on this month is my gallbladder surgery, Jydan graduated to a big baby carseat instead of a capsule, We had my mothers group, my study group, church, I lost my milk supply and got it back again, Jydan learnt to sleep unwrapped, we booked in for swimming lesson, had my sisters birthday, had family photos, 6 month immunisations and a health clinic appointment, play dates, music, Jydan started wearing the next size up, finally drank from a bottle but now drinks from a cup, started eating more foods and now says five words!
It's also been a big 'mummy' week for me! I put him in crèche for the first time.. and the second time while I went to my mums group. It was only for an hour, and I could see him the whole time, but it was a HUGE step for me. I think the fact that I had to leave him while I was in the hospital helped me be able to leave him, but it was still really hard. Ugh, but I did it! My dad said that if I don't leave him by the time he is one he is going to have an intervention, haha. It only took me six months :P.

Millie the dog has been able to take Jydan a bit more nowadays, they even play fetch together! So cute! Jydan will tap the ball and Millie will pick it up and put it on his bum (Don't ask!) but so cute! Jydan get's so excited by her too, so lovely.

Jydan's Milestones:

Jydan is now saying FIVE words now. I can't believe it. Speaking in single syllable words all day words pays off, huh? He now says 'MUM 'APPLE' 'DAD' 'NO' and 'MORE'. He is incredibly clever, I can't believe it. He also mimics sounds and mouth movements. He will watch what you're saying, mimic mouth movements and then just gives up and squalls. It's so gorgeous!  I'm not expecting anymore words anytime soon though, surely not?!

Although Jydan can't crawl yet, he can mysteriously move himself for one side of the lounge to the other. I have no idea how? All of a suddon he has moved a few meters, turned 360 degrees and flipped himself around. ha! I think it's his legs. I think he pushes off with them?

Jydan loves his feet, and thinks they belong right in his mouth! He has stopped doing his crunches now, I think he just lifts his legs up to his face instead.
Jydan has been laughing for a while now but he has caught the giggles. The little munchkin has caught the giggles and he laughs at anything, apparently im hilarious!

Reflux:
So Jydan hasn't grown out of his reflux yet... so much for babies should be over it by six months. It was actually recommended that Jydan went on a stronger medicine, but I'm going to wait because it's known to cause constipation. I'm going to wait 'till he can sit more independently, see if being more upright settles it down.

Eczema:
As you can see on his poor little face, we are still trying to find the best way to kick this eczema in the butt. Literally nothing is working and he seems to be reacting to everything, more so natural products because they're plant based. And plants irriate eczema. So we are reviewing mine and his diet. Arggghh!

Routine:
I'm really happy with Jydan's routine and he seems fairly happy with it too. He is pretty settled and happy, so it works well for him :). It chops and changes and sometimes he sleeps for longer but generally it's three 45 minute naps, unless he sleeps on me which he sometimes does with his 3pm sleep. I love our cuddle time! He wakes for the day either 7.30 or 8.30am and goes to bed at 7pm. He has 4-5 milk feeds a day, depending if he sleeps through the night, and 3 solid meals a day that are anywhere between 3 & 1/2 - 4 & 1/2 tablespoons a meal. We change his bum every 2 hours except for the morning its every hour, because he's a pee machine.  He poops everyday at 6:10pm, almost to the dot.. so funny! We have a bath around 6.20 and sometimes we get caught :/.

Health Clinic Appointment:
Jydan is reaching all the right milestones and is doing exceptionally well with his words. We need to try and put more weight on him as he hasn't doubled his birth weight yet, but other then that, everything is going great according the health nurse.

Paediatrician Appointment:
Uggghhhh our last appointment was cancelled, and we have another one booked for the 19th. For goodness sake, He is now 7 months and has had one appointment that he's suppose to have monthly.

Weight/Height/Looks:
This month Jydan only put on about 160grams. Combination of my milk doing funny things and Jydan usually not gaining enough in general. It seems to be less and less each month. So we've been told to put him on a more fatty diet now.. avocado galore! More meats and a little bit of veg oil.
Jydan is 7.2 kilos, which is 15.8 pounds and 68cm (26.7 inches). His tiny head is 41 cm (16.1 inches).

Nappies:
Between the cold rainy weather and being unable to get the nappies dry and myself not being able to
bend a great deal to get them hung up or in the machine because of surgery (which I feel I can get back to normal now) we've had to use sposeis every now and then, but still mainly cloth. I'm on the look out to get some more.

Jydan's Likes/Dislikes:
Sleeping is a bit of a dislike at the moment, man can this babe refuse to sleep. He sleeps fine on me, but not really practical 90% of the time. He sleeps well at night most of the time  and sometimes he's a breeze to put to sleep, but goodness me, other times.. like this morning!! He is loving a lot of his toys at the moment, especially his play table. And music, he loves music. His favourite song that I sing to him is the alphabet.. good choice, Jydan!
He doesn't like it when he does a poop and tries to wiggle away from it. Poor thing doesn't realise that it's going to follow him until he finishes and I can change him.
He is really loving standing up at the moment, he is a big wobbler though so we have to hold him.

Feeding:

I'm so proud, So, I lost my milk while I was in hospital but I've amazingly got it back!! Yey! So we're feeding amazingly again. And I'm still determined to feed him until he is about one and a half :).
He eats LOTS too. around 4 tablespoons each meal. He loves chicken and he loves mango! He is a bit of a picky eater and if he doesn't like it, he will refuse it. So I tend to hide the things he doesn't like in foods he does. He is drinking a bit of water with his food now too, from a sippy cup.

Baby Jydan - 5 Months.

Five Months:
Wowwee! 5 months. Where has that time gone?
I feel like this has been one of the biggest months. Jydan's made a lot of 'sitting progress', and strengthening his legs. He has started solids and had avocado, banana, pumpkin and pears. He has even had a go at a sippy cup! He was constipated so we tried giving him a little bit of cooled down boiled water. He refuses a bottle so we put it in a sippy cut, he LOVED it!
He has been interacting more, grabbing, pulling and playing more. He is really trying to explore. His wonderful personality has just shown through a lot this month.
We've had Easter, my brothers 12th birthday, a family holiday, a funeral, Jydan's naming day (which was probably this months highlight).
The coming month I would like to start introducing a comfort blanket for bed for when he is out of his wrap/swaddle. He is sitting independently for up to a minute at the moment so I think this month he will learn to sit completely independently too.

Jydan's Milestones:

Jydan is sitting a little longer now, he can sit independently for up to about a minute and then gets too wobbly and falls. Sometimes he even re balances himself!! If he falls a little bit he will sometimes sit himself back up.
Although Jydan knows how to roll, and has rolled since he was 3 weeks and 1 day he isn't really interested in it. We encouraging him with it a lot but I think he will skip this step!
Jydan is making all different sounds, saying "rawr" "apple" and "mum" (although we rarely say "mum").
Jydan is reaching for object and using his eyes to indicate what he wants. He is really interactive and loves to have a conversation. He is always smiling and loves his belly being tickled.
Jydan is starting to realise that Millie our dog is different, he is trying hard to work her out. We are helping Jydan explore Millie with patting and playing with her.
He is eating pureed breakfast and dinner, about a teaspoon each meal.
Jydan is taking all different things in lately. If I repeat the same thing to him like 'mum mum mum' he will stare at my lips and eyes, trying to work out how I'm saying it. He will stare at the TV too, Mr square eyes!

Reflux:
Jydan's reflux has been pretty controlled for just over a month now, but we've just had to up it a teeny tiny bit. Just a little bit of spew and extra hiccups. We haven't had to up it for a while, so it looks like his reflux is on the mend. YEYY!!

Eczema:

We are still struggling with his eczema. This stupid eczema! The cream that we are currently using, a 1 % cortisone works really well, as you can see there has been so many improvements... but he has to use it week on and off, so when he isn't using it for a week, it comes back really bad :(. My poor poss!!

Routine:
I have just started setting a a 'new' routine since Jydan has started waking up earlier (daylight savings ended) and he has started solid foods so spreading out our breastfeeding feeds. Solids and feeding confused me so it was easier to create a routine and stick to it. I have always demand fed Jydan so it's different to routine feed him now, it's all so new, so lets see how we go :)
So here is our new routine:

7:30am- Wake up. Cuddles in bed & nurse from me.
8:00am- Change nappy, medicine, eczema cream and Jydan's breakfast time.
8:30am- Get dressed and play.
9am- Change nappy, nap time.
11am- Wake up, change nappy.
11.30am- Nurse from me.
11.40am- Tummy time, then usually in his bouncer while I do housework, then story time.
1pm- Change nappy, eczema cream and bed.
3.00pm- Wake up, change nappy, playtime.
3:30pm- Nurse from me.
4:30pm- Change nappy, nap for 45minutes
5.15pm- Wake up
5.30pm- Pureed veggies for dinner.
5.45pm- Jydan watches some TV while I get my dinner organised and run his bath.
6.10pm- Medicine
6.15pm- Bath time with me.
6:40pm- Finish bath, get dressed, eczema cream, PJ's on, nurse from me.
7:00pm- Bed time

Then he wakes up about 5am for a feed if he does wake at all :).

Paediatrician Appointment
I'm currently waiting for another appointment letter, not sure when the next one will be but they are suppose to be monthly now.

Weight/Height/Looks:
Jydan has put on about 300 grams this month and grown 2 cms! This is pretty average, what a typical baby his age puts on, so I'm pretty happy with that :). He is now 6.8 Kilo's (14.9 pounds) and is 64 cm long too which is 25 inches. He had been completely in 00's (3-6 month) clothes for about a month now so I think he will be in them for a couple more months. We are starting to stock up on 0 (6-9 month) clothes for when he is big enough for them.

Jydan's Likes/Dislikes:
Jydan LOVES reading books. He sits there and just patiently listens to our voices and looks at the pictures. When we pick a book, I get Jydan to help me pick. I follow his eyes and pick whatever book he is looking at :).
Jydan also loves his swing now. It's his favourite play equipment.
He doesn't like being in the car when we are tired, especially when we stop at bed lights. He has become use to it any other time.
Jydan likes to eat pumpkin and banana, not so much avocado.

Feeding:
My little man is still breastfeeding, we're going strong now, I'm pretty proud of myself! He is feeding every four hours, as well as having about 2 tablespoons of solids a day. He has about half a tablespoon for breakfast and then about 1-1 & 1/2 for dinner.

Baby Jydan - 4 Months 4 Weeks.

Twenty-One Weeks:
During Jydan's specialists appointment he was weighed and measured. He is now 6.8 Kilo's (14.9 pounds) which is around the weight as a baby in Australia was born at in Feb this year! Crazy huh! He is 64 cm long too which is 25 inches. We got his  head measured too and it's the same measurement as last month, his little heady hasn't grown.. and we still have no answers and have to wait for ANOTHER specialists appointment. It's all a waiting game.
Solids are going really well this week. He has around a teaspoon for dinner each day. He had avocado for about a week and then we introduced him to banana. The first night he had banana he slept the whole night. He slept from 7pm - 6.30am!! I was awake at 4.30 just waiting for him wake and checking that he was breathing.. and waiting.. and waiting. And then he had a feed and went back to sleep 'till 8.50am. I never thought I would see the day. What a brilliant boy I have.
Day light savings ended through this week so Jydan has been waking an hour earlier, but since he's sleeping so much better, I don't mind that much :).
This week it's been a bit colder then what Jydan is use to so luckily we have a heat pump, it's been on for the first time this year. I also got my 'Jydan tattoo' which you can read about HERE, we've had lots of play dates and lunch dates, Tim's had an extra day off work, shopping, introduced new foods, still battled with his eczema, better sleeping habits and more interactive play!

Favourite Toy This Week:

His thumb! Jydan's loved putting his hands in his mouth for a couple of months now but he's now favouring his thumb... hehe funny boy!

Favourite Thing To Do:

Jydan has discovered blowing bubbles and loves it! Blowing bubbles/spitting. As if there wasn't enough dribble! haha.

Favourite Book:

Jydan really just loves books in general. If it's bright and colourful he will sit and look at the pictures and listen to your voice while you read with him. If there is a book or magazine near by he will stare at it until you read it to him, and read it many times!

Favourite Food:

Banana's, he likes them more then avocado. Yum yum! We have started giving him breakfast now too. Since he can't have grains, wheat or dairy, baby cereal is out of the question. So banana's are a great breakfast food. We are introducing him to pumpkin for dinner tonight.. let's see how it goes :).

Favourite Word:

"Apple".. He says this over and over and over again. He says it more like "aaaaa-pool". I think he likes the 'bubble' feeling it has on his lips, since he is all about blowing bubbles at the moment.

Milestones:

Sleeping, woohoo. Definitely a milestone, right? If we aren't sleeping through the whole night, we are only waking once and we are achieving 2 hour naps through the day.

Personality This Week:

A big big chatterbox this week. He is always trying to join in on conversations. He isn't afraid of strangers anymore, he's happy to interact with anyone.

Moment Of The Week:

Sleeping again... after spending months waking every 2-3 hours, I'm over the moon about this sleep thing.. you can't half tell, huh!

Outfit Of The Week:

I'm obsessed with the very hungry caterpillar and LOVE these overalls. Too cute!

Photo Of The Week:

Jydan loves his food! He's eating avocado here with a little bit of banana and breastmilk :).
