Health issues, time, stress and babies.

Between allergies, eczema, head issues, growth issues, ankle issues, eating issues, sensory issues, low iron and vitamin D, reflux and now a heart issue, a pead, a monthly health nurse, a dietitian, an allergy specialist, physio therapist, occupational therapist, blood tests and a speech pathologist, sometimes I feel like life is a bit hectic and overwhelming! How can I deal with all this if we have another baby? Where will the baby fit in? What if the next baby has health issues too?! I already feel so run off my feet sometimes trying to keep up with everything, and already had to put of studying uni as we have so many appointments. I just didn't have the time to keep up with uni and I would have had to take too many classes off for his appointments.

So here we were again, at another appointment, hearing the words 'I'm just a bit concerned about...' this time they needed to call the head pediatrician after the register had a listen to his heart. They found a murmur in his heart. We have another appointment in a few weeks time to see about it again and an ultrasound.

I know everything is mild, and nothing is life threatening or anything, we are so incredibly blessed about that. That's what I hold on to all time, there is always someone more worse off, right? But I think the hardest thing is the unknown of the future,.... I think? And the unknown in general. I don't know all this doctor words, I don't know how to deal with all these sensory issues.. like seriously, how do I deal with a child having a melt down in the car because he wants his top off? With him deciding to stop talking and sleeping because we were packing up the house?

And his head, stressing about all the shrinking going up on there, seriously?! A shrinking head?? Only my son! Goodness me.

Intolerance's and allergies, wow, that's a bit of a list too!
His rolled in ankle.
His hips.
His knees.
His weight loss.
His lack of eating.
And now his heart?

Where was the warning that my sons whole body would seem like a pin cushion? That for his first birthday he would have 6 tests on his poor body. That every few months we have to hold him tight while he screams for a blood test? That people won't understand why he can be upset by the way something feels or I'm that mean mummy who won't let my child eat someones birthday cake. That every time he stops talking you're worried that his skull has pressure on his brain. Ugh! It can be SO hard.

Those that have a child with a few health issues, how do you have time for number 2? How would I cope if I had two children with health issues?

Gender Reveal Party Ideas.

I'm in such a party plan mood so I've decided to start planning our gender reveal for whenever we do get pregnant! Okay, so no, where not even pregnant yet, let alone over the 12 week mark, but to fulfill some of my cluckiness and to come up with some ideas, why not?
I won't have a baby shower this time, instead I want a really cute gender reveal!
Including Tims friends & family and finishing off with a fun little afternoon family friendly party!
I'm not really good with hiding surprises, at all! So it would have to be not long after we found out... maybe 23 weeksish?
I've decided to have a TUTU'S OR TIE'S theme!!

My ideas:

Some Exciting Things Happening In My Life...

It's been SUPER busy in my household. Next year is going to be crazily heactic. So many exciting things happening, some stressful things, I thought I would share them all....
  • One of the most EXCITING things is I got into Uni for next year!!!! I will be studying nursing and then will be studying midwifery. I am a little bit worried that I won't be able to handle the study/home life but I'm really looking forward to it. Yey! Go me :D.
  • This means that Jydan will be starting child care! So we are currently on the look out for a really good centre. (I'm a little picky)

  • Jydan is really battling with gaining weight. He has been like this since he started solids. And last weigh in he lost 300grams! It was the second month in a row he had lost weight so he was sent off for a few tests. He was testing for celiac desease, cystic fibrosis, he had a huge blood test where they took 4ml's of blood (alot for a tiny boy) he had to do a stool test and test how much fat gets processed in his system. This was all in his birthday week. Was very emotional!! We are waiting on the results.

  • Our unit is on the market!!! (Please buy it!) So we are doing little finishing touches around the house and hopefully someone buys it soon.

  • So we are looking for a nice 3-4 bedroom family home to buy! We are spending alot of our spare time looking at pretty houses!

  • We have decided to try for baby #2!! I can't wait for Jydan to be a big brother! Keeping in mind it took us 2.5 years to get pregnant with Jydan. This is why I chose not to put off my nursing degree. I can always take a semester off *when* the baby comes. We aren't stressing about it this time, and just waiting for it to happen, if it happens :)

  • We are also selling one of Tim's cars to buy a bigger family car. We are looking for a holden wagon.

    Phew, now your all up-to-date!

Going to be a hectic few months ;).

Planning Baby #2!

It was our plan that we will start trying for baby #2 when Jydan turns one. In four & half months time now!
I have decided that I REALLY want a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean) after my emergency cesarean for Jydan. So we are moving our trying date to May 2014, in ten & half months time to allow a higher chance for one.

I am a bit sad that we won't get our bubby as soon as we wanted. I would have loved to have our babies close in age. It took us so long to try for Jydan so it could be another three years or more until we meet our baby number two. I can't risk it though, if we were to fall pregnant straight away I wouldn't be able to go for a VBAC.

I know I need to keep it in mind that I may not get a VBAC. I think I will be REALLY disappointed if I didn't have a virginal birth though. I'm not mentally prepared for another cesarean, and I don't want to be. I know at the end of the day, it's the end of the result that counts, but I see it as a domino effect. If I don't push for a VBAC for #2 it's going to get harder and harder each baby to go for a vaginal birth. Also, I would hate to be restricted on the amount of children I can have because of the amount of ceasers I've had.

Here is a few reasons why I'm pushing for a VBAC;

- Recovering from a cesarean while running around a possibly 2 & a half year old will be a nightmare!
- We are wanting five children. It is recommended (although it's not ruled out) that you don't have any more then three sections.
- With each cesarean the scar tissue gets worse.
- It's a long recover after a cesarean ( my scar still hurts at times!).
- The medication to help with the pain after a cesarean is not really good for a breastfeeding mum.
-The after pain was not a good mix with a cesarean pain.
- A vaginal birth is something I just really want to experience.
-I want to feel the accomplishment of being able to delivery naturally.
-Shorter stay in hospital.
-Ability to do more for my newborn.

So I'm using this time to prepare my body for a VBAC by;

-Becoming more fit.
-Becoming more healthy.
-Strengthening my stomach muscles.
-Waiting over a year and a half for recovery.
- Preparing my body for pregnancy.
-Finding a pro VBAC doctor.
-Researching doulas.

We all know how quick time goes, the last 7 & 1/2 months have just flown, so I'm sure the next 10 will too. I guess it's good in a way... if I was getting ready to try for baby #2 now, I wouldn't be able to wholey enjoy Jydan as a teeny tiny little person that he is now. I would be worried and then heartbroken every month. Besides having to wean him off feeding so I could get my periods (which I haven't had yet). And then morning sickness while trying to run after a new walker.. ehh! It's just funny how it all worked out.

Any tips on planning for a VBAC you would like to share?
