Baby Jydan - 4 Months 1 Week.

Eighteen Weeks Young:
This week has been SO busy, that's why I have been MIA lately and am publishing Jydan's 4 month, 1 week post before his 4 month post! Today I'm playing catch up though so will hopefully be up-to-date soon :).
Jydan is growing up so quickly now, it's amazing how quick your life goes by when you have kids. My life is literally on fast forward mode and I wish there was a pause button! He is becoming more and more calm and easy going, a bit of his dad's nature coming out more and more.
We've finalised the last bits of Jydan's naming day and also had Jydan's naming day, Jydan's learnt some new skills as well as forgotten some (SLEEPING!), I've started a mums group on Facebook, rearranged my house, went to MOPS, battled and struggled to get rid of Jydan's eczema.

Jydan's Milestones:

Concentrating so well
on sitting.
Jydan is laughing so much now, it's the best thing I've ever heard. He LOVES his belly being ticklish. He isn't really ticklish anywhere else, he is like his mum that way. You have to work really hard for a laugh. Other then his belly Jydan laughs in the bath. I've always known he loves his bath but now that he laughs it's amazing to see.
Jydan is really trying hard to sit, to do little sit ups, if you lay him on his back he will try and try and try! but he is also now sitting 'alllmost' independently!!! He will sit by himself for a little bit, get excited and fall but if we hold his hand for security he get stays there and sits. He loves to sit. He much prefers sitting then laying down.

Jydan's been lasting around 8-10 minutes on tummy time which we try to do daily. I think this is a pretty good effort, go my son!!

Reflux:
Some vomiting still this week, I'm thinking of going to the doctor and getting him on something different the Zantac, probably the Lozac. He is fine if we up the medication but I don't want to keep upping it! Now that all Jydan wants to do is sit he is getting better though.

Routine:
Now Jydan is finally in a routine he has decided to stay up longer between his naps! Before we were getting around an hour and 15 minutes out of him, each block. He is still like this between waking up for the day and his morning nap, and between his morning nap and afternoon nap, but after his afternoon nap he will be up for 2 hours, sometimes even 2 & 1/2 hours! This is a new habit, so lets just see if it sticks!
Bed time has been pretty spot on the last couple of weeks, between 7:30-8.. no late nights, yeyy! BUT he needs to work on sleeping through the night ;).
During the afternoon we sometimes nap together on the couch, it's so nice, we snuggle up, and because it's been cold I sometimes will get the doona. It's a nice little afternoon tradition :). Buutt I'm usually taking photos of us snuggling up instead!

Naming Ceremony:

Us and Jydan's God Parents.
The naming ceremony went so well, I put up a blog post about it, you can see it HERE!
It went so well, Jydan slept all morning and then woke for the ceremony and then went back to sleep afterwards. It was pretty perfect!
Im so excited to now print out the photos and put them all in an album for him. We will also definitely do a naming day for our next children, it was a brilliant idea and went so smoothly :)

Eczema
My poor darlings face!
My poor little mans eczema has got soo bad, we have tried everything. Everyone has given us tips on try to fix it and nothing works so I finally gave in and bought some cortisone to fix it and just in a day it's got so much better!
I really didn't want to use it on his baby skin but it had got sooo bad, what more could I do?
Anyway I can't use it on his skin for more then a week, but from the looks of things I won't need to!

One day of cortisone.

Weight/Height/Looks:
Now that Jydan is in 00's he is in alot of 'big boy' clothes, jeans, jackets, shirts ect.. so cute! What's happened to my newborn?!
It's also been pretty cold now, so he's been rugged up. This weather goes from one extreme to another.
Mittens for the cold mornings!

Jydan's Likes/Dislikes:
Jydan LOVES his swing now, it's his favourite play equipment and he's not even worried about being strapped in! He looks so relaxed in it, and it's a good way for us all to have some 'chill time'.
Jydan hasn't been liking laying down AT ALL lately, he will much rather sit up!

Feeding:
Feeding has been going really well, no concern or anything, he is still fully breastfed and we haven't tried solids yet but I'm going to try him when his eczema clears up so it's easier to tell if he has a reaction.

Jydan's Naming Day (16th March 13)

Jydan's Naming Day was held on the 16th of March 2013.
We celebrated the ceremony in a hall called St Catherine's Hall, followed by afternoon tea and cake, with about 35 guests.
The day went very smoothly and Jydan was great.
We officially introduced Jydan Timothy Cocks to our family and friends and introduced God Parents to his life.
Here are some photos of his wonderful day.

Baby Jydan - 3 months 4 weeks.

Sixteen Weeks Young:

What a big week it's been! This week I've had a million things to do and I've done two million. Luckily, Jydan's been sleeping amazing and allowing me to do everything and run around like a mad hatter. That boy really knows what his mumma needs. Just like on my birthday night he slept seven hours straight! BEST.BIRTHDAY.PRESENT.EVER!
I've really soaked up the cuddles this week. I think because Jydan is completely self-settling now and I've been run off my feet, when it's time for cuddles even my phone gets pushed aside. Baby cuddles are the best thing ever!
So many moments too I've just looked at Jydan and fallen completely in love with him all over again, sometimes to the point I'm in tears. I look at him and think 'how on earth did I make such a beautiful boy!'.. it amazes me everyday. He amazes me.
This weeks involved my birthday, vomiting, routine, extra sleeping, better nights, moving into the nursery, a rash, my brothers birthday, naming day planning, moving around, clothes shopping, seeing family, becoming clingy, lay-buying,  interaction with Millie, watching the TV, bigger feeds, playing with toys and a new baby swing!

Jydan's Milestone's:
Jydan is meeting all the right milestone's, but still no laughing.
He talks more then any baby I have met, smile's, tries to sit up, rolls, interacts, dribbles, chews... so he is doing everything right :). His latest trick is picking up his (light) toys or teddy's... picking them right up and putting them in his mouth. Everything goes right into his mouth! Tim spotted it first and said "look, look his picking up Duke (his favourite teddy)". We were pretty excited! Such a clever boy.
We are forever working on him saying mum or dad. I encourage him to say dad and Tim encourages him to say mum, no actual words yet but lots of different sounds.

Reflux:
Jydan's reflux has played up a little this week with alot of vomiting so we've upped his medication. I always feel bad when we up it, and I don't like to do it too often. I also put it off as long as possible. His tummy was gurgling, he was beginning to be more unsettled, and vomiting lots, so up it went :(. Oh well. He is now having just under 0.7 ml of Zantac twice a day.

Routine:
Jydan is sticking to the same routine he had last week, it's great cause we can pick when to have appointments ect. He naps at around 10am, 12pm, 3pm & 6pm and in bed at 8. This is all give or take half hour.
When he does go down for a nap now, I just swaddle him up and put him into his cot and he goes to sleep!
Jydan has been sleeping amazingly over night now, one night we even got 9 hours straight! Considering he use to wake every 2 hours, It's just crazy! Other then that, he does between 5-8 hours straight, feeds and goes back down for more! The reason is, sadly, he has moved out of our bedroom and into his nursery. On my birthday he wouldn't settle till around 10.30pm. I think because his reflux played up. I was exhausted so I put him in his cot in his bedroom with the monitor on. I wake to his every noise and wanted at least a couple of hours sleep. Turns out I got 7 that night! We tried the next night, the same thing. And the next... he hasn't woken every two hours since we moved him out. I am so sad he has moved into his room so early. I wanted at least 5 months with him (longer if we had a bigger bedroom, but a cot wouldn't fit). I think bubba didn't like his dads snoring :S.

Naming Ceremony:
Wow, his naming ceremony is next week!!! I can't believe how fast it's come around. There isn't much left to do, I've even got myself organised! All that's left to do is order the platter, which Tim can take care of since we are doing it through his work and I have to finish the programs I'm feeling on top of things at the moment, but I know it can quickly change!
It's only going to be a small ceremony, about 35 people including children so it should be a really good day!
I can't wait to share photos with you!!

The Swing:

In the baby swing.
We bought a baby swing for Jydan. Something extra that we can't really fit into our tiny unit but oh well. All for Jydan ;). It's definitely worth the money - I recommend them to any new mum. He has even fallen asleep in it a couple of times! BUT he doesn't like it as much as mummy and daddy does. Hopefully he does as he becomes more use to it. It swings and rocks, plays music and sounds. Very happy with this product!!
Weight/Height/Looks:
Jydan's hair is finally starting to grow back! Can't wait to see what colour it truly is. He has been so bald for weeks now, I've forgotten!!
There are so many cute looks that Jydan does. One of my favourites is when his eyes are still closed, if he has just woken up or fallen asleep while feeding and he sticks his neck out, stretches it right out, moves his head side to side like he's trying to see/search for something with his eyes still closed - so cute!!
I love when he stretches out when we take his swaddle off. He sticks his arms up and arches his back - it's funny how we learn to stretch when we are so young!
I also love when he not only smiles, but does he super cheeky grin. When he is all cheeks with his lips closed. It's the cutest, cheekiest smile! I could go on and on about all the little faces I love about him, but I especially had to document these before I forgot.

Jydan's Likes/Dislikes:
We are trying to get Jydan use to a highchair but he's really not liking them. I think it's because he has to be strapped in. He has this thing about being strapped into things. He hates it. His pram, capsule, the high chair, the swing, I think it's all because he likes to be more free.

'Duke'
Not only does he love his toy 'duke' he also loves a blue teddy that rattles. It's light enough for him to pick up and makes a noise, I think that's why he likes it. Most other toys and teddy's he doesn't interact with yet.

Playing with Millie.
We've been introducing Millie and Jydan more and more the last week or so. Trying to get them to interact with each other. Jydan keeps looking at Millie, wondering what on earth she is. You can almost see his mind ticking around.

I LOVE this photo!!
Feeding:
I'm so pleased that I'm still breastfeeding, I always said if I make it through the first couple of weeks I'll be happy. I pushed through and still feeding. My ultimate goal is to feed Jydan till he is one. I'm determined to make it.
I look at my little man and can't believe I've made all those juicy rolls, kept his nutrition and fluids up and made him thrive. Every day in my belly I made him grow and grow, and now every day I'm still making him grow :).

Nappies:
We've got a pretty good rotation of cloth nappies now, it means I don't have to do a nappy wash cycle for 2 & 1/2 days and he still has nappies spare. I think we have about 40 nappies in total now, and that's after I've got rid of all the china cheapies and the one's that don't work pretty well.

Baby Jydan - 3 months 3 weeks.

Fifteen Weeks Young:

Three and a half months?? Is he really three and a half months? When people ask how old Jydan is, do I really have to say three and a half months? Where did the time go ? (And surely I say that on every blog post!)
Before Jydan's reflux kicked in I would say that Ive got a really easy baby. He was cruisy, hardly cried, never screamed, slept brilliantly, I thought I was the luckiest mum around! Then the screaming, spewing, crying and sleepless nights came. I really feel like I have my easy baby back. He hardly every cries, just after a bath. He just grizzles when he isn't happy or I haven't picked up on his hunger or tired signs. He chats and smiles ALL the time, such a happy boy and I'm a super lucky mum!

Play date with Jax!
This weeks been full of giggles, naming day organisation, teething, learning new skills, sleeplessness, shopping, wedding anniversary, lots of family time, feeding the ducks, play dates, routine, new experiences and making lots of memories!

Wedding Anniversary:

Dressed up for our Anniversery!

Our first wedding anniversary marks such a special anniversary because Jydan was a honeymoon baby. It's been a year since Jydan was conceived! We spend so much time reminiscing how quickly time goes, and how lucky we are to have Jydan. We visited our wedding venue and introduced Jydan to the people that run the venue, they remembered us and said 'wow, you didn't waste any time' haha!

Trying to roll away while I was
doing his weekly photos!
Jydan's Milestone's:
We've heard a few giggles this week, it was so cute. Although, it scared him so much he has only done it once since!
Jydan is trying to pull himself on the ground when doing tummy time. He will clutch his hands on the blanket and trying and use it to pull himself. I am shocked!
Jydan is grabbing lots, at his toys and clothes. He grabs at toys in his play gym and then gets frustrated because his hands 'stuck, lol. He hasn't quite worked out how to let go ;).
I've also noticed that Jydan is really intrigued by patterns. Even the rain! His little mind is ticking away :)

Routine:
So happy in the mornings!!
Mr Jydan has decided that he REALLY doesn't like sleep this week. Not the usual 'i'll refuse to sleep for 5 minutes and then fall straight asleep' like he does... he has been refusing to go to sleep at all. One night it was 11pm before he went to sleep, another night 10pm. That would be okaish if he slept all night but because he wakes every 2 hours most nights it makes it really hard, and tiring!
Other night's I've  been super lucky and he will be asleep by 8.30 and then have a big sleep, sleep between 4 & a half and 6 hours before waking up for a feed!
So we've made his bedtime half an hour earlier, we are now putting him to bed at 8. I think by the time he gets to 8.30 he is so over tired that he won't settle properly. So we are doing bath at 7, feed at 7.30 and then bed at 8. So far...
Other then that I've noticed his day naps and routine  are at pretty much the same time every day, give or take half hour :). He wakes at about 8.30 in the morning then naps around 10, this and his 6pm nap is the quickest nap he will have through the day, then back down at around 12 & 3 for an hour and half sleep and then 6 for a short nap again  :).

Naming Ceremony:
Argh, I'm getting there, I will definitely be glad when the day is here. We've only got 2 & 1/2 weeks to go. It freaked me out when I worked that out, now it's time to get cracking (and stop eating the lolly buffet lollies!)

Teething:
We've had to give Jydan panadol a couple of times this week. No teeth yet, we are still waiting for it to pop through.

Feeding The Ducks:
We had a family BBQ on the weekend and we introduced Jydan to the ducks and fed them some bread. He loved the ducks, he just looked at them, trying to figure out what they are! So cute!

Weight/Height/Looks:
I put Jydan on the scales and it looked like he had lost weight?? I'm not sure what's going on. He has another clinic appointment next week so I'll have to see. Hopefully he has put it on!
Jydan fell asleep after a feed the other day and cuddled into me just like he did with my first hold. I took a photo and couldn't believe how much he's changed since he was born!!
My first hold & 3 & 1/2 months.

Jydan's Likes/Dislikes:
Jydan is HATING the car at the moment. As soon as we strap him in the capsule you would think we were hurting him or something. And then, if the car stops at the red light, watch out - and block those ears. The screaming will start. Because he won't take a dummy I often have to sit at the back and get him to bite/suck on my finger and he is usually okay.
Also, because he loves the bath so much, he hates getting out. He can end up screaming while we get him dressed. Poor bubba!

Feeding:
Jydan now brings up his on burps now, we usually don't have to burp him, actually he won't usually burp if we try. He either doesn't have to burp now or he will burp straight after a feed. It makes it all a bit easier, we can have a feed and have some chats and cuddles straight after.
We are getting Jydan use to the high chair now for when he will be on solids. He doesn't like it at the moment so we need to keep trying and he does :S. This was his first time in a high chair while we were out for lunch. He lasted about 5 minutes.

Nappies:
Jydans nappies are piling up now, he has so many now they don't fit into his nappy bin but I'm trying to stock up for winter where they will take longer to dry. Or maybe that's my excuse to keep buying really cute nappies?

Baby Jydan - 3 Months 1 Week.

Fourteen Weeks Young:
After a stressful week last week, This week has been pretty relaxing! Jydan's been such a calm boy and I'm finding that each week he and I become more and more calm and work as a wonderful team. I guess the more I get to know him, the easier it is. And he's really getting to know me too, studying and staring at me, interacting and smiling more and more :).
This week has been full of walks, extra sleeps, chats, shopping, hot weather, a new sleeping arrangement, MOPS and naming day organising! And just like every other week, it's gone super quick! Can you believe he's 14 weeks already?? He is growing WAY too quick. I never thought time would go this quick when Jydan came along - although I was warned a million times!

Reflux:
After Jydan's weigh-in last week I've upped Jydan's Zantac to 0.6 & 1/2 ml. He only weighed 6.2 kilos but he spits that bit out as well, so it works out to his weight anyway. I would have left it, but he started to throw up a little bit again - defiantly not as bad as he use to, but I wanted to control it before it got bad again.

Jydan's Milestone's:
Jydan is really trying to be on the move, I caught him one morning trying to get to Millie, our dog. He turned himself around while on tummy time! I sat in the same spot taking these photos, you can see how much he's turned :D. My gorgeous, clever babe!
We haven't got a laugh yet, I'm sure we will soon, I'm so looking forward to it!!

Jydan's started really entertaining himself these days, playing with his hands and kicking up his legs. It's really surprised me.. he already doesn't need me 24/7!

Routine:
I have been having a bath with Jydan at night. Last week I mentioned that we now sit him in the bath instead of using the bath support, so it's been easier if I jump in with him. He loves it, swimming around with mum! It also gives me more time to do stuff in the mornings where I would have a shower, relaxes me before bed & involves Tim in bath time, if he's home on time. I get Jydan undressed, then jump in the bath, Tim brings Jydan in and Tim & I chat in the bathroom while I wash Jydan. (some nice quality time). I pass Jydan to Tim when he's all washed & he puts him in his PJs and then having some relaxing bath time myself :).
Oh oh oh that reminds me, one day we were all ready for the bath, in the bathroom, ready to go and I had to quickly do something. Tim had already shown Jydan the bath so he knew it was bath time. Well, well, he screamed until we got him in the bath. He thought he wasn't getting his bath, oh dear! All smiles when we put him in, finally.

I've found that the bright sun wakes Jydan up really early in the morning. He wakes around every two hours as it is, so I really don't want to start my days at 6 am either! So after he wakes at 4-5am I put him in his room (sad face) where he has black out curtains and he doesn't start his day till 8am!! :D. I still want him in our room as long as possible though.
Jydan wakes up so happy in the mornings, it's the happiest he is all day, I love it!!

Jydan's sleeping brilliantly through the day now. If he has a sleep under and hour it's actually a bad sleep for him. He sleeps between an hour and 15 minutes - two hours now, each nap. There goes his 30 minute day sleeps - thank goodness.

Naming Ceremony:
I've started to write Jydan's naming day script. It's coming along pretty well and it's making me feel a lot less stressed about getting things done on time! So thankful for Jydan's extra sleeping time, I have time to actually do it :). I'll post the script up after the big day! Under a month to go now!
I'm so excited to officially welcome Jydan to our friends and family.

Teething:
I haven't had to give Jydan any Panadol this week. A couple of times he has had to bite down on my finger to settle, and he's still dribbling ALOT but his teeth isn't really bothering him this week. Not sure if his tooth has come back into his gums (which can happen) or he's handling the pain better? Argh, time will tell.

Weight/Height/Looks:
I think this weeks photos show just how tall Jydan really is! His weight has also distributed alot now, he doesn't look as chubby as he use to look.
It's been really hot here the last week or so and I have to be really careful because Jydan has usually got a high temp as his normal temp. It's not unusual for Jydan's temperature to be 36.8. I remember in hospital his temperature was 37.2 at one stage and 37 the day we left. So not only is he a warmer baby anyway I have to make sure he is dressed down and the air conditioner is up! He's been wearing alot of summer body suits and singlet suits to bed.

Jydan's wearing more and more 00 (3-6 month) clothes now, especially pants, shorts and overalls, mainly because his nappies are so bulky. T-shirts and tops are still too big.

Looking through old photo's and video's I can't believe how much hair Jydan has lost, he was born with alot of hair and now he's pretty much bald! Look at these photos of when he was a newborn! Aww, brings back so many memories. He is at such a fun stage now but I do miss when he was a newborn.

MOPS:

My Reciepe book!

I'm loving this mums group I've joined! This fortnight we had a cooking demonstration and then made super cute recipe books! Jydan likes it too, he usually is a bit weary of strangers but he is fine there :).

Jydan's Likes/Dislikes:
Ive always said that Jydan loves music. It really settles him. When I don't have music I sing to him, and now he really responds to my singing! He's starting to chatter back while I sing (sing along, hehe)... Hope he has a better singing voice then me ;)

Feeding:
Jydan's not feeding too well this week, he will be starving but just won't latch on, he is so curious to look around and learn what's about.... just as I thought we had this whole feeding thing under control 'sigh'. I'm sure he will grow out of the stage soon enough.
Jydan's started doing this new thing while he's feeding, he puts his hand over my breast and covers his face, it's so cute!!.. Although I worry he is cutting off air to his nose.

Nappies:
We have started using the cloth nappies during the night too. The disposables would leak so easily and never last through the night. I'm finding the cloth hold even more then the disposables! He would leak overnight in a disposy but a cloth will hold alll night.. which is about 12 hours!
